Community Voting

Community voting in Qubic is used for incubation projects, Discord polls, and other temporary solutions, ensuring that only genuine $QUBIC holders participate. It marks a significant step toward transparent, fair, and community‑driven governance.

What Is Community Voting?

Community voting replaces Discord polls and other ad‑hoc mechanisms, guaranteeing that only legitimate $QUBIC holders take part and eliminating the risk of vote manipulation by Discord throw‑away accounts. The weighted‑vote system lets each participant’s influence reflect the amount of $QUBIC they hold, including asset‑based voting.

Voting resets each epoch. Active polls become inactive when an epoch ends. A maximum of 16 new polls can be created per epoch.

Key Features

  • Weighted voting: Weight scales with the $QUBIC held in a wallet, supporting asset‑based voting.
  • Community access: Open to all $QUBIC holders.
  • Incubation impact: For incubation projects, the community now controls 60 % of voting power (Core Tech 15 %, Ecosystem 15 %, Ops 10 %).

How It Works

  • Votes do not transfer funds or assets.
  • Each vote consumes 100 $QUBIC.
  • Creating a poll consumes 10 ,000,000 $QUBIC.
  • Voting power = current wallet balance (or the maximum balance allowed for an asset).

Types of Votes

  • $QUBIC vote → $QUBIC balance = voting power.
  • Asset vote → Asset balance = voting power.

Voting Balance Requirements

  • Throughout the poll, you must keep your balance above a minimum threshold. If your balance falls below this minimum, your voting rights are automatically revoked.
  • If your balance increases during the poll, your voting power remains unchanged.
