Proposal

In the Qubic community, decisions are not made by a single individual or a centralized group; instead, the entire community shapes them through a democratic, transparent process. The proposal system is the key link in this process. Community participation is essential for preserving Qubic’s decentralised nature and ensuring its evolution aligns with user needs and wishes. Critical decisions are collectively made by the quorum.

What Is a Proposal?

A proposal is a suggestion for changes, improvements, or new features in the Qubic ecosystem. Any member of the Qubic community can submit a proposal. Proposals span a wide range of topics, from minor tweaks and bug fixes to major changes that could redefine how Qubic operates.

Types of Proposals

Qubic proposals are grouped into the following categories:

1. Computor Proposals

When the protocol needs to be altered or new smart contracts are to be added to Qubic, a computor proposal is required.

Example use cases:

  • Add a new smart contract
  • Extend protocol functionality

2. Computor Donation Proposals

These proposals ask computors to donate a percentage of their earnings per epoch.

Example use cases:

  • Request to burn $QUBIC
  • Request funding for the Computor Control Fund (CCF)
  • Request donation for a long‑term project

3. CCF Funding Proposals

If you have a project idea and want the Computor Control Fund (CCF) to help build it, this is the right place.

Example use cases:

  • Core development needs funds to pay salaries
  • Company X wants to integrate Qubic into their wallet
  • Funding support for an ecosystem project

4. Shareholder Proposals

(This type is not yet enabled)
Shareholder proposals are used to solicit votes from smart‑contract shareholders.

Example use cases:

  • Adjust smart‑contract fees
  • Change the smart‑contract revenue address

How to Submit a Proposal

Anyone in the Qubic community can submit a proposal. The steps are:

  1. Identify the Topic – You likely already know the issue, improvement opportunity, or new feature that could benefit the entire community.
  2. Draft the Proposal – Clearly describe the change you want. Articulate the problem or opportunity, your proposed solution, and the benefits it brings to Qubic.
  3. Submit the Proposal – Publish it on the platform where community members can review it (usually GitHub). Be sure to follow all formatting guidelines or submission rules.
  4. Community Review – Members can review, comment, and ask questions about your proposal. Welcome feedback and be ready to iterate if necessary.

How Proposals Are Reviewed

Once submitted, the community will review the proposal. The review covers:

  • Evaluating the problem or opportunity identified
  • Assessing the feasibility of the proposed solution
  • Considering potential benefits and drawbacks
  • Asking questions of the proposer and seeking answers

We encourage community members to actively participate in the review process, as the decision will ultimately be made collectively.

How Decisions Are Made on Proposals

  1. After in‑depth discussion, the idea can evolve into a formal proposal.
This proposal incorporates all feedback and revisions from the community discussion. It provides a detailed action plan, clearly outlining the specifics of the change or new feature and how it will be implemented.

  2. Once finalized, the proposal is published on‑chain and waits for computors to vote.
The proposal must achieve quorum voting to become effective.

  3. If the proposal receives a majority of computor votes, it is accepted and moves into the implementation phase.
If it does not receive majority support, it will be revised for further consideration or discarded.
